Arboreto Lussich

This is an impressive botanic reserve, considered the seventh in importance in its type in the world, and the second in South America. The reserve is the fruit of the tireless efforts of pioneer Antonio Lussich. The Arboretum consists of 2.000 hectares, 193 of which are under the care of the Municipality since 1980. There are about 70 native species and more than 350 exotic species, including eucalyptus and pines from all over the world. You can drive up to the lookout on the hill, and enjoy beautiful spots of the forest, Solanas Beach and Piriápolis hills. At present, Antonio Lussich’s old house is a museum and full of testimonials of his life and original character, who was among other things a remarkable writer and the director of a ship rescue company. Guided tours are available, only in Spanish.. Experience Maldonado like a local and have fun in Uruguay with like-minded people.
